Hey friends it’s Tina here! Since my last post proclaimed my undying love for the RIBBA frames from IKEA, I thought I would follow up with some of my other favorite IKEA items. Most of which are under $50.00.
A cute GRADDAD Pitcher that can definitely be used for cool and refreshing beverages, but I see it as a vase for some wildflowers or a beautiful bouquet. I use several different styles and colors of pitchers for flowers. I think they are so much more fun than a standard clear vase.
I love me some SVALKA white wine glasses! Around here with our four crazy kids running around and my hubby (who also throws balls in the house) they get broken on a frighteningly regular basis! So I only invest in IKEA wine glasses now, ranging in price from $.79 cents up to $1.59 per glass depending on the style (wine type) you select. But at that price, seeing them shatter on the floor doesn’t bother me so much, now seeing the lost wine, that’s another story.
Classic white dishes in an interesting shape, you can never go wrong. IKEA’s MYNDIG plates are classy, sophisticated and make your food look, oh so good. Perfect for a dinner party, but cheap enough you don’t worry about using them daily. I like to put my plain boring salad on them because it just makes me feel like I’m eating something a little more special than a plain boring salad!
Clear bottles with stoppers have several uses that can be beautiful as well as practical. Buy a couple of HEMSMAK bottles and place different kinds of vinegars and olive oil in them, then you can leave them on the counter for easy use and be decorative at the same time. How about in the bathroom? Put your favorite bath salts or bubble bath in them and display them on the counter with a cute little vase of flowers!
I love using IKEA curtains! They are inexpensive and are good quality. You can hem, them to the length you need. I have the pink velvet curtains in my dining room, teal velvet in my home school/kids craft room, dark purple velvet in the master bedroom, and light blue hanging in my makeshift guest room. These MURGRONA curtains (shown) have a fun bright print that would be perfect somewhere you want to inject some life into the room, for example they would be fantastic in a kids bedroom/playroom.
Cowhide rugs at a great price and are the perfect addition to any space. They look amazing with modern decor (soften up the lines), antiques and eclectic design feature them strikingly well too. They are neutral without being boring. Raw, rustic and natural without being frumpy or over the top. Check out the KOLDBY cowhide.
Party decorations! Who knew?! I didn’t know they had these OVERLAGSEN decorations until I noticed them walking through the store. Adorable, easy and cheap. Anyone planning a kid’s party wants decorations that meet those standards.
Ahh, the MASKROS pendant light. I have had these beauties all over the house, until my husband said “we have too many of these in our house”. They were literally EVERYWHERE, master bedroom, kitchen island, laundry room. I sadly had to part with them over the course of a year, little by little I watched them go home with new owners. It was physically painful, but I figured the hubby lives here too so I better consider him. These are beyond, beautiful, artistic works of art on a budget! You can’t beat the statement they make and the price for that statement. They hold a special place in my heart. I will have another one again someday. *sigh*
How cute are these delicate looking pink HEMSTA lamp shades?! Perfect for a girl’s bedroom, a soft touch to a living room or office. Buy or have a simple lamp base, elevate it to another level with these shades. Lovely, just lovely.
Small white SALONG vases come in a variety of sizes. Place in a grouping and display together with a single flower in each one. Big impact on design and not on the wallet. You could just as easily buy one and place a single flower, like a daisy, in it and display it on a desk or side table.
Hanging planter baskets like the RISKORN Hanging Planter would be perfect on a patio hanging from a pergola or in your kitchen window planted with herbs. Or how about hanging them on a wall at different heights in a row (horizontally or vertically) or staggered for an unusual and interesting visual display.
Big design doesn’t have to have a big budget. It’s all about balancing out the more expensive items (like a couch) with less expensive items (like IKEA curtains or vases). Have fun with your space and pick up a few RIBBA frames while you’re at it!
