Hi friends and Happy Friday! Sorry for the light posting this week. It was Sam’s first week back to school and I was a bit off my game!
I thought I would give you a little update to what has been going on at our house these last few weeks. After returning from our beach vacation to the Jersey Shore we decided we might like to downsize into a ranch style home. The real estate market is a sellers market right now in Colorado so we thought we could sell fast. So I de-cluttered and staged as fast as possible, and we put the house on the market (literally in six hours!). More on that in a sec.
Our son started first grade and loves school! We are blessed that he has no separation issues and loves seeing his teacher and friends. However, we hadn’t really stopped to consider how a big move at the beginning of the school year might upset him. He was not at all interested in moving.
So after one month and only one showing we realized this may not be as easy as we thought and decided we do love our home we just need to make some changes to make us happy. So we took the house off the market. Our son was thrilled!
So were the neighbors but only because they love our little dog…kidding!
What I am left with is a bedroom full of boxes of all of the stuff I quickly de-cluttered and packed. I’m actually unsure how to unpack all of this stuff and where to put it all as my house looks so lovely and uncluttered right now. I purged already so I know I must have packed what was left for a reason. Looks like I may need to purge again.
The DIY Organizer Series has been great for me personally and I hope it has inspired you as well! I’m actually running out of big spaces to organize and purge which I never thought I would say!
The projects I have left include:
We have decided we want a complete closet makeover in our master so I will be purging but not really organizing until we get the new closet installed.
I’ve decided I would like to have Sam store his actual toys in his closet (like I did when I was a kid without a playroom). That way I can keep track of how many toys he actually has. So I need to move some stuff I have stored in there.
Crawl Space in basement
Mostly seasonal clothes, and Christmas items which I tend to cut in half this year! To be honest we should not be storing anything other than the outdoor cushions and large Christmas decorations in the crawlspace.
Storage Space in basement
I need to to my paint storage project and I have a lot of collections to sort through, I would like this area to be used specifically for project supply storage, office supply storage, and document storage.
Seasonal clothes, toys to donate, small furniture to sell.
Storage Cabinets in basement
Party supplies, games, extra mugs and glasses ( because everyone needs 400 coffee mugs). CD’s in those CD books.
Thomas the Train Collection to sell, play costumes. Would like to put some storage shelves in this closet. I have a plant to turn this into more of a lounge with an IKEA sectional/sofa bed. Sam loves to read, play music and do karaoke and this would be the perfect room for that.
I have a lofty goal of completing these items in September so I can start on a new DIY Organizer Series called Clutter Hot Spots!
I would love to hear any of the project or areas you plan to work on this fall! Feel free to ask me about any of my past DIY Organizer series projects or any of the one’s I have coming up. If you need to get caught up on the series just go to the search bar on the blog and enter DIY Organizer Series.
Have a great weekend everyone! You know I’ll be busy!
